What Is the Difference Between Ambulatory and Wheelchair Transportation?

Ambulatory transportation is for passengers who can walk and enter or exit the vehicle without remaining in a wheelchair. Wheelchair transportation is for passengers who require a wheelchair-accessible vehicle and securement during the trip.

What Passenger Assistance Is Provided from Pickup to Destination?

Our team can provide reasonable assistance from the pickup location to the vehicle and from the vehicle to the destination. Assistance is based on the passenger’s mobility needs and the conditions at each location.

 

Can I Use Ambulatory Transportation for Medical Appointments?

Yes. Ambulatory transportation can be used for primary care visits, specialist appointments, imaging, laboratory visits, outpatient procedures, and other medically related appointments.

 

Is Ambulatory Transportation Available for Dialysis Appointments?

Yes. YESU Transportation Services provides ambulatory transportation for passengers traveling to and from dialysis treatments. Recurring transportation may also be requested for regularly scheduled dialysis appointments.

A specialized stair chair may be used to help move an eligible passenger up or down stairs when appropriate. Service is based on the passenger’s mobility needs, stair configuration, available space, equipment requirements, staffing, and safety considerations.

Who May Need Stair Chair Assistance? 

Stair chair assistance may be appropriate for seniors, individuals with limited mobility, passengers recovering from surgery or hospitalization, wheelchair users who cannot safely navigate stairs, and people entering or leaving homes or buildings without elevator access. Each request is reviewed in advance to determine whether stair chair assistance can be provided safely and appropriately.
